Abstract
Flinging across continents, age gaps, and early adulthood’s romances, Return Address: Poems is a travelogue of queer desire. Its autobiographical poet-speaker landscapes their devotion with both lithe humor and interior reckoning: beloveds blur, poems decompose, and love morphs into assault. Among the dizzying terrains of Milwaukee, Aotearoa New Zealand, and the Driftless region, response itself—or, as the collection posits, “returning the address”—is the throughline. “How many of these flares / have I shot toward the rotten coin of moon?” I ask. “Many,” Return Address: Poems answers across three sections of fragmented lyric, zesty sonnets, and postcards.
