Abstract
This lecture on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, delivered at Lawrence University on January 9, 2002, was designed for students and faculty in the college's Freshman Studies program. Freshman Studies, a multidisciplinary introduction to the liberal arts, has been the cornerstone of the Lawrence curriculum for over fifty years. The lecturer, Brian Rosenberg, is professor of English and Dean of the Faculty at Lawrence. Dean Rosenberg holds the M.A. and the Ph.D. from Columbia University. He has published two books and has received awards for both his teaching and his scholarship.
