Abstract

This lecture on Virginia Woolf's A Room of One's Own, delivered at Lawrence University on February 21, 2001, was designed for students and faculty in the college's Freshman Studies program. Freshman Studies, a multidisciplinary introduction to the liberal arts, has been the cornerstone of the Lawrence curriculum for over fifty years. The lecturer, Wendy Nicholson, of Lawrence's History department is an expert on women's history and holds the Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. In 1998, Nicholson won Lawrence's Outstanding Young Teacher Award.
