Abstract

This lecture on Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, delivered at Lawrence University on March 6, 2000, was designed for students and faculty in the college's Freshman Studies program. Freshman Studies, a multidisciplinary introduction to the liberal arts, has been the cornerstone of the Lawrence curriculum for over fifty years. The lecturer, Howard Niblock, is professor of Music at Lawrence University where he teaches oboe performance. Professor Niblock holds degrees from the University of Michigan and Michigan State University and is a past director of the Freshman Studies program.
