Abstract

This lecture on Marx and Engels' The Communist Manifesto, delivered at Lawrence University on September 24, 2003 was designed for students and faculty in the college's Freshman Studies program. Freshman Studies, a multidisciplinary introduction to the liberal arts, has been the cornerstone of the Lawrence curriculum for over fifty years. The lecturer, Paul Cohen, is Professor of History at Lawrence. Professor Cohen holds the Ph.D. from the University of Chicago and is a winner of the Freshman Studies Teaching Award as well as a past director of the program.
