Abstract

This lecture on Stanley Milgram's Obedience to Authority, delivered at Lawrence University on January 19, 2005, was designed for students and faculty in the college's Freshman Studies program. Freshman Studies, a multidisciplinary introduction to the liberal arts, has been the cornerstone of the Lawrence curriculum for over fifty years. The lecturer, Matthew Ansfield, is Assistant Professor of Psychology at Lawrence. Professor Ansfield holds the B.S. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and the Ph.D. from the University of Virginia.
