Artist Statement
As I enter into the professional world, I have a new curiosity about the shared experiences of women as they age. Mixing physical materials that women depend on in each life stage, like newborn and adult diapers, menstrual pads, shaving cream, and recycled nightgowns, I explore the social expectations and restrictions throughout a woman’s lifetime. I chose to incorporate iconography that reflects the passing of time, considering how women’s relationship to these objects shifts as they age.
