Artist Statement
As an artist, I want everyone who views my work to have individual experiences that will spark conversations within themselves and within their communities about issues that aren’t discussed normally.
Final Form: Desolation is a photo series featuring Alyana Brown ’20 and Cael Neary ’17. The series original focus is about the injustices occurring around the nation to black female and trans bodies that normally aren’t discussed in mainstreamed media primarily due to the presidency of Donald Trump. Additionally a secondary goal of the project was to raise awareness around the topics of nudity, violence, and violence against minority groups. My work is not meant for me to only have conversations with friends, but to give a voice to silenced individuals and spark conversation to end those injustices from occurring.
