Artist Statement

The worlds within video games exist in a space between the real and the not real, reality and virtual reality. While playing, we can admire the beauty of landscapes, build relationships with characters, affect significant world events and earn trophies, yet all of those things are not “real”. How do we reconcile the real experiences and emotions we feel while playing video games with their ephemerality? Is their lack of physical form what attracts us to them in the first place? This installation gives physical forms to video game objects and environments in order to change the way we interact with them through the completion of a real-life, video game inspired quest.
