Artist Statement
I have worked with Sculpture, printmaking, audio, video, and photography so far. However I truly save a place in my heart for photography, for that the process before and after a photo is taken has always been very special for me. For me it is always about the measuring of proportions, the balance of colors, and the right timing, those are undoubtedly the most important criteria for me and I have found much pleasure in it.
My approach to audio works, however, is different. I piece scattering sounds that I collected into a complete narrative, a song, something new but honest. I used audio clips I recorded in the past 4 years and pieced them together. These 5 pieces are a reflection of my journeys in life, a memoir, a record, of my feelings towards those specific places and times. My voice is muted as I intentionally excluded parts where I actually started to talk, but I was not silent.
The medium that I have chosen here speaks to me on a level that it allows the arousal of nostalgic feeling, yet leaving some space for more thoughts. While I do not deal with the big picture of societal and political aspects in Art, I do hope what I do are there for people to feel related to.
