Failures of the Food Industry in America
There are many fundamental problems with the food industry in America, and throughout the world, which either create or contribute directly to negative effects on environmental, human, and animal health. Most of these glaring problems are overlooked on a daily basis by people who pay little or no attention to what exactly goes into every meal they consume. These issues are in dire need of fixing, however, change cannot be brought about through apathy. Until the public begins to demand better regulations for food and food related industries, the government will continue to be manipulated by lobbyists and large companies working only for their own economic interests.
All of my pieces address different, but related, issues within America’s food industry. The overall specific ideas I targeted are the creation of excess waste, greenhouse gas emissions, food science, and obesity. I hope that my artwork brings these issues to light, and helps to get people started thinking and talking about it. But most importantly, to start caring.
