Artist Statement

My previous experience in hospitality-related branding, appreciation for the culinary arts, as well as love for sharing a meal at Italian restaurants with friends and family all motivated this fictional, high-end brand development of an Italian restaurant Bella Vita in Boston. This installation showcases a brand book, food and bar menus, business card designs, pen designs, and a decorative sign to demonstrate the history, core values, look, feel, and versatility of a luxury brand. Allowing spectators to flip through the pages of the materials, as well as take away promotional items, also emphasizes the interactivity and adaptability of the brand as an experience, not just a product.

Inherently, this specifically-curated installation of the brand development as an aesthetic, creative, emotional and interactive experience seeks to break the boundaries of how brand design is typically received, experienced and used, straying away from its merely capitalistic and functional publishing purposes. Additionally, despite not being Italian myself, the focus on this cuisine is based on my interests in learning Italian, travels to Italy, restaurant trips to Italian restaurants in Italy, Germany, other European countries and the United States.
