Artist Statement
The horses portrayed in my paintings came into my life during a time where I, unknowingly, would need them the most. Shortly after I started riding and working with these horses, my dad passed away from a terminal illness, and it felt like my life was falling apart. But I had built partnerships with these animals that have, at times, been the sole reason I pushed to keep going when I was at my lowest. They were a grounding presence for me, and they taught me to be vulnerable, present, and allowed me the space to process my grief. I paint these horses as a tribute to them, and the indescribable happiness they bring me, that I feel can only be expressed through art.
