Artist Statement

This photo series explores the societal construct of personal living spaces. These black and white photos capture the presence of humans, but are devoid of people. Through depicting aspects of unknown homes and capturing them the way I see them, the viewer has a voyeuristic lens through my camera, yet a relatable experience with the subjects. These photos make the private, mundane aspects of life, public, and subject them to judgement and evaluation. Lighting and composition add dimension to obscure the subject matter and viewers are invited to look closely at these dark photos and consider the items and spaces in an uncommon light.
