Artist Statement

Facing the unknown can be overwhelming. In this work, I attempt to make sense of this uncertainty by creating an environment of objects over which I have control. Each piece was ripped and warped in order to release the vulnerable softness within the clay body. Even in their fired state, the objects are fragile and permanent. This space encourages the viewer to be contemplative and serves to distract us from our own anxious thoughts and momentarily find peace, as I have.
